Who is the Insurer?

The insurer of this policy is Pinnacle Insurance plc. Cardif Pinnacle is a trading style of Pinnacle Insurance plc. Pinnacle Insurance plc is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

What is Scotsure Warranty?

Scotsure Warranty offers mechanical and electrical breakdown cover and/or MOT test cover.  If you choose mechanical and electrical breakdown cover, there are four levels of cover to choose from. All provide cover for a varying range of mechanical and electrical components against any sudden and unforeseen failure requiring a repair or replacement to resume normal function.  If you choose MOT test cover we will cover the cost of repairing, replacing or altering certain components if cited on the Refusal of an MOT Test Certificate (VT30), as being the reason for the failure of the MOT test.

Who can be covered?

To be eligible for cover under this policy you must be an individual residing in, or a body corporate registered in, the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.

For a vehicle to be covered it must be:

- a United Kingdom registered used car, car derived van or light commercial vehicle;

and

- the vehicle age and mileage when this policy starts must not exceed the limit shown

below for the level of cover you have chosen:

COVER ONE Up to 5 years / Up to 60,000 miles (with I&K Motors)  *

COVER TWO Up to 15 years / Up to 75,000 miles

Mechanical or electrical breakdown to:

Braking System - calipers, master cylinder

Catalytic Convertor - convertor only

Central Locking - locking motor, electronic control units

Clutch - clutch plate, master and slave cylinders

Cooling System - radiator, water pump

Electrics - engine ECU, relays, heating fan motor

Fuel system - fuel pump, idle control valve

Oil Seals and Gaskets - requiring removal of major component

Steering - PAS pump, rack and pinion

Turbo Unit - turbo unit

Wheel Bearings - wheel bearings only

ABS - ABS wheel sensors, ABS pump

Air Conditioning - pump, compressor, condenser

Electrics - sun roof motor and switches


COVER ONE

All mechanical and electrical components unless specifically stated as not being covered.

Up to £30 a day towards the cost of a replacement vehicle whilst your vehicle is being repaired.

If your vehicle needs to be towed, you can claim up to £60 per claim.

Cover for up to 60 days per year for travel within countries who are members of the European Union or the European Free Trade Association (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland).

COVER ONE

Mechanical or electrical breakdown to:

Body panels, paintwork, glass

Brake components due to wear and tear or seizure

Fuel injectors and fuel lines

Airbags, batteries, bulbs, tyres

General wear and tear

Non-factory fitted radio cassettes, CD players

Mechanical or electrical breakdown due to any fault that is noted or reported

during routine servicing or vehicle health checks.


How long does my Scotsure Warranty run for?

You can choose from a range of cover periods depending on the type and level of cover you have selected.


What happens if I take out cover and then change my mind?

If you decide you do not want the cover and wish to cancel your policy, you can do so by writing to Scotsure MBI Ltd, Palmerston House, 10 The Loan, South Queensferry EH30 9NS within 14 days (the cooling off period) of the start of the period of cover or the date you receive the policy documents, whichever is later. You will receive a full refund of any premium paid provided no claim has been made under the terms of this policy. If you have made a claim against this policy or cancel outside the initial 14 day cooling off period, no refund of premium will be payable.


How do I make a claim under my Scotsure Warranty?

Take your vehicle to the dealer who supplied it (or any other VAT registered repairer) and they can request approval for repairs by telephoning the administrator’s Claims Department on 0131 331 5512.

IMPORTANT

You must not commence with any repairs until a claim reference number is issued. We will not pay any claim until we have received a completed claim form, when requested, and related invoices.

How do I make a complaint about my cover?

If you have a problem with the service you receive you should contact:

If you are not satisfied with the response given, you may refer the matter to the Customer Relations Manager, Cardif Pinnacle, Pinnacle House, A1 Barnet Way, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire WD6 2XX.

If we cannot resolve your complaint to your satisfaction you may be entitled to complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Would I receive compensation if Pinnacle Insurance plc were unable to meet its liabilities?

We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If we are unable to meet our liabilities you may be entitled to compensation from the FSCS. Further information is available from their website: www.fscs.org.uk®
